Arms and Armour of the Civil Wars and the Littlecote House Collection English civil war History 13th February 202113th February 2021 Description West Berkshire Museum presents as part of its Talking History programme this talk by Keith Dowen. The Littlecote House armoury, now kept at the Royal Armouries in Leeds, is the finest surviving collection of arms and armour from the time of the Civil Wars. Drawing upon pieces in the collection, documentary sources and artistic depictions, this talk will examine the production, use and effectiveness of arms and armour during this turbulent period. Keith Dowen is Assistant Curator at the Royal Armouries and author of ‘Arms and Armour of the English Civil Wars’. He has a particular interest in the production and supply of armour during the 17th century and the role of armoured cavalry on the battlefield.
