Cheriton Commemoration, 31st March

Every year, Lord Hopton’s Regiment of Foote of the English Civil War Society holds a march to commemorate the battle of Cheriton, This year the march will take place on Sunday 31st March 2019.

The march will commence at 10.30 from The Flower Pots public house car park and make its way to the memorial to the fallen at the Battle of Cheriton by 11.30. On route we will stop briefly in the village to lay a wreath at the war memorial for those lost their lives from the village in the two world wars.

This year we will have a service at the Cheriton memorial and the battle field itself given by the Bishop of Basingstoke before a small firing display.

As in previous years we will be marching with Sergeant Major General Henry Tillier’s Regiment of Foote of the Sealed Knot Society.
