Left: Books from a chained library, where the books are secured by a chain sufficiently long to allow the books to be taken from their shelves and read, but not removed from the library itself. This practice was usual for reference libraries from the Middle Ages to the 18th century, as books were extremely valuable during this period.
Some of the content on our site is more suited to being presented as downloads. Examples include forms and documents that may be used as a model but require editing. Many Internet users are reluctant to read very long documents online, so that is another reason why a document may be made available for downloading.
We have a repository of such documents. Many of these relate to the organisation and management of our events and are availble only to ECWS members, but some are made available to all registered users and a few can be downloaded by any visitors, registered or not.
