Thank you for your interest in membership of Lord Hopton’s Regiment of Foote. Please come along to our next event and give it a try. You can do as much or as little as you like. You can attend your first 'muster' for £5 to find out if you like it before paying for full annual membership. The £5 introductory fee will be deducted from your membership if you decide to join. You can read Lord Hopton’s Newsletters on our website at http://www.lordhoptons.co.uk. The website also gives all the dates of our forthcoming venues.
You have to be willing to give up the odd weekend and bank holiday through the summer. You will need camping equipment or a caravan as we always set up camp in a field. Water and toilets are provided and there is usually a campfire or beer tent with a band for evening entertainment. The events are staged approximately once a month from the early May Bank Holiday until September. You would be very welcome to join in as we are always looking for new members. To go on the battlefield and take part in the battle you can choose your role, e.g., pikeman/woman, musketeer, water carrier, camp follower or musician (drums or fifes) . Children are very welcome to be part of our Living History events. The aim is to give visitors to our events a taste of life in England as it was over 350 years ago. We try to be as authentic as possible.
You can borrow the equipment and a uniform for your first visit. After that, if you decide you like it, you can gradually buy or make your own your costume. If you don’t mind dressing in 17th century clothing whilst on view to the public, and enjoy having a laugh, Lord Hopton's Regiment is for you. It’s fun for single people and families alike, and something different to do on your summer weekends.
