Coldstream Guards at Audley End House

Some of our regiments have alter-egos and present different periods in history. The Marquess of Winchester’s Regiment will be appearing as the Coldstream Guards of 1685 at the English Heritage event over the May Day bank holiday.

It is 1670 and King Charles II is hosting a horse race with a difference as he stops off at his new palace at Audley End on the way to nearby Newmarket.

The Coldstream Guards, 1685

Join the merry monarch for a lavish, glamorous day of celebration. Get swept up in the excitement and tension of a day at the races when the king’s Cavalier soldiers race their horses against the magnificent backdrop of the mansion house.

Soak up the indulgence and fun of the Restoration period.
